This article aims to guide M2030 users in gathering the essential data needed for completing the Measurements page. By the end of this article, you will know where to find data related to total output, energy usage, waste management, water consumption, and other environmental metrics, such as process and refrigerant and F-gas emissions. If you are unsure about what is included in any of the metrics discussed in this article, please see the definitions next to each field on the M2030 platform. |

For this information, consider contacting your Production, Logistics, Sales, and Finance departments, who will provide you with the required data.
-
The best place to identify your energy usage in a given year is from your energy bills. These should provide you with information on the different energy sources you have used and how much of each type.
-
Data on metered energy can be gathered from utility bills.
-
Invoices may be used for other fuels to estimate quantities used.
-
For renewable energy sources, certificates may provide details on the quantity of energy purchased that is of renewable origin.
If you do not have access to your energy bill, you will need to contact the building owner if applicable, or in other circumstances your electrical utility provider, who should be able to support and inform you of your energy usage.

- Waste Contractor Records
Data can, typically, be provided from waste contractor records, when treated by an off-site third party. This may need to be averaged or allocated to determine waste generated in a single period.
For this, please consider:
-
Reviewing any records from waste disposal contractors who collect and manage the facility’s waste
- Survey/ waste audit method
Your waste management contractors should be able to inform you of the type and amount of waste you produce. If this is not possible, you can inspect the facility’s waste containers to determine the types of waste produced, considering the volume of the waste bins and the frequency of their collection.
These surveys can be undertaken over a representative period to estimate the type, weight, and treatment pathway for waste generated from a facility. For more information on waste treatment, visit your waste contractor’s website
-
Data on water use may be collected from bills from your utility companies.
If your facility has a water monitoring system in place, this will be your source of information. If you do not have such a system, you will be able to find out about your water usage from your water bill.
-
Data can typically be provided from waste contractor records, when treated by an off-site third party. If you have an effluent bill, this should be used for your wastewater. To record the amount of wastewater, use the readings from your flow meter.

As for the other data, the best place to find the information to use in calculating the various emissions will be from acquired bills and/or invoices, which should include the type and quantity of any gas purchased (i.e., the bill for any gas purchased for manufacturing processes, a bill from a contractor who serviced refrigeration and/or air conditioning equipment, etc.).
For calculating these emissions, you will find various downloadable calculators and resources on the M2030 platform. You can locate these by hovering over the 'tool tip' to the right next to any of these fields on the Measurements page (see screenshot below).
