How to add your organization’s internal targets to the platform

  • Updated

Adding your organization's target allows you to compare the impact of your actions against the target through the CO2e & resource reduction pathway report.

The steps below apply once you’ve set a target within your organization. For more information on how and why to do this, see this article.

1. Set your target:

To add your target, please contact our team using the contact us form and include the information below:

  • Metric category: we can set targets for data you are tracking - Scope 1&2 CO2e, energy, water, waste, food waste.
  • Target Type: absolute or intensity target (see below)
  • Baseline year
  • Target year
  • Total reduction (%) or Annual reduction (%)

The platform supports adding one target per metric category for each organization.

Target Types:

On M2030, you can set two types of target:

  • An absolute target refers to a target that aims to reduce GHG emissions by a set amount. For example, Company A has set an emissions target aiming to reduce their emissions by 20% by 2025. An absolute target refers to the total amount of emissions being emitted.

  • An intensity target is a normalized metric that sets a company’s emissions targets relative to some sort of economic output. That output can be anything from number of employees or revenue, among others. This allows a business to set emissions reduction targets while accounting for economic growth.

2. Select Your Target in the Reports Section: 📝

Once our team has responded and confirmed that your target has been added, you can select it within the reports.

  1. Navigate to either the CO2e & resource reduction pathway or intensity report, depending on the type of target you added.
  2. In the top left corner, you'll find a dropdown menu labeled "Target metrics from (+ Add target)"
  3. Open the dropdown and select your organization's name to view your targets.
